You don't need much to see results at home!
You just need a plan to stay accountable to YOU. Whether you have been wanting to try some workouts at home for a while or you think you might NEED the transition if the world shuts down again- there are options! You want to make sure that anytime you are trying something new, that it is going to work for you! Every person is different & your body is too. It is good to experiment with bodyweight workouts & equipment workouts. Finding something that is convenient in length of workout, style of workout & challenge level is very important. As far as equipment- these are my must haves.
Foam Roller
There are so many incredible things you can do with a foam roller. The roller is perfect for those tight muscles- but be gentle! Did you know that you can add the foam roller to exercises as a balance challenge too? I plan to have several workouts on my app - coming soon - that include this magic roller.
Kettlebell
Small - big & every size in between you can do ANYTHING with these lovely weights. I usually recommend a 15 lb, kettlebell to start clients off- we can do a lot with this size. Exercises feel different with this style of weight & you can switch up your grip in new ways too.
Dumbbells
A set of dumbbells is a must. Lighter weight you can use for slow tempo reps / exercises. Heavier weight you can work on balance & more advanced lifts. To get started with weights a 5 lb. set is perfect!
Resistance Band
Not just any resistance band- you need a thick one that won't slip. These are the ones I use & that I recommend to all clients - there are so many brands of these now but these are cheap for a three set on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086LFQMLG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Adding this resistance to classic strength exercises like your squat or bridge will make you feel things on a more intense level. 20 minutes with this thing on will make those glutes feel sore for a few days. This is a no brainer. I keep these in every room in the house for a quick 5 minute session throughout the day.
Jump Rope
If you don't love cardio sometimes you have to find something fun to trick yourself. Since reintroducing this fun thing into my clients lives again they are getting their heart-rate up & having fun too!
These 5 items in a room or area that is calm & clean will set you up for success! Always be sure to consult with your physician before starting any new form of exercise.
If you need some guidance reach out- I offer virtual 1 : 1 training & soon my app will have an array of options that suit your lifestyle perfectly! Remember- it is more about your mental decision to start. You don't have to spend a lot of money on props / equipment / clothing & you do not need a full hour to commit to a healthier you. Just start. Reach deep within. Grab the badass right out of you. Repeat.
I hope to see you on your mat soon!
